Adrenal Hormone Panel
WHAT IS IT?
The adrenal glands are responsible for secreting numerous hormones including epinephrine, cortisol, DHEA, progesterone and testosterone. Cortisol levels in the body regulate a number of different functions such as the immune system, blood sugar levels, blood pressure and electrolyte levels. Normal cortisol levels should follow a curve increasing when you wake up and slowly decreasing towards bedtime at night. When you are stressed your body produces cortisol. If you suffer from chronic stress, both physical and emotional your adrenal glands can stop producing cortisol the way they should. Adrenal fatigue is becoming more and more common as our lifestyles change to involve more working hours, lack of sleep, nutrient deficiencies that tax the body, poor diet and lack of exercise.
